Our Mission

Help record the history

To make sure your photos and text are preserved we will also back them up and send them to the following government departments and associations:
  1. The National Archives of Australia
  2. The Australian War Memorial
  3. Australian Army History Unit
  4. Australian World War One Associations

The National Archives of Australia hold the WW1 Service Records. They are now digitalised and online to view and print off for research purposes. A new project on their website called Mapping our Anzacs has a scrapbook section that helps put a photo with a WW1 Service Record. My first aim is to place your photos and text into this collection.

The Australian War Memorial already have a huge collection of photos from the Great War. But they are missing many photos and text that you and I have in our photo albums. Sadly some are starting to disappear. To make sure this gap is filled I will send them a yearly folder of my collections from this website so the information is backed up forever. Their project a little hard to find is called Roll of Honour Photographs. Only the deceased are recorded.

Australian Army History Unit produces books and articles concerning Australian military history. I'm sure some photos from your collections could still be used in up coming unit publications.

Australian World War One Associations are always on the lookout for more research material on the A.I.F. (Australian Imperial Forces). In the last five years I have found these associations to be the best for preserving our history. The Australian Society of WW1 Aero Historians. The Families and Friends of the First A.I.F. The Australian Light Horse.
I will put to these Government Departments & Associations your photos and text and if they are interested in publishing them in any books or placing them on their websites you will be notified. You can also check a list on the left hand column called Photos Recorded. This will show when and where a photo and text was used and placed. I am trying to make aware to everybody what photographic archives are avaliable for recording Diggers so future generations can appreciate what these people tried to achieve for our freedom.
